Kim Kardashian is either just backpedalling and hoping her fans are too stupid to notice, or she’s lying and hoping her fans are too stupid to notice. Kardashian was the face and chest of the December 2007 issue of Playboy magazine. The magazine photo shoot, for which Kardashian was naked and pretty much baring all, was also the subject of her family’s reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, back in 2007. In April of this year, the Internets were abuzz over quotes from Kardashian saying that she regretted doing her Playboy shoot. She was promoting her naked Harper’s Bazaar April 2010 pictures at the time, so it’s hardly surprising she said whatever she needed to for their sales. She was quoted as telling Harper’s, for whom she did the naked ‘unairbrushed’ pictures mid-April, ‘I’m sorry I did Playboy. I was uncomfortable.’ She was even goaded by her mother, ‘Go for it,’ she recalls her mother saying. ‘They might never ask you again. Our show isn’t on the air yet. No one knows who you are. Do it and you’ll have these beautiful pictures to look at when you’re my age.’
Today, we get more quotes. This time from the US edition of Allure magazine, ‘It is nothing that I regret; being on the front of Playboy is very iconic. I was like, ‘OK, I’m proud to do this and to show people that I don’t have to be stick-skinny to be looked at as a sex symbol, and to me that’s not what is attractive anyway”. Kardashian has changed her tune since the original quote, from a few months back. A girl can change her mind, sure. Why not. However, this smells more like pushing sales of whichever magazine she’s shilling for at the time.
