Katy Perry: Don’t Judge When Marriages Fail

Katy Perry’s current hair colour covers The Hollywood Reporter Magazine’s latest issue for posterity because she’s probably dying it again as we speak relying on the smoke and mirrors to distract fans who are impressed that her local WalMart carries more than one shade of Nice ‘N Easy. This is a really random interview, that reads horribly, but the soundbites are below along with behind-the-scenes video I haven’t watched yet although I’m guessing it’s better without sound.

On diverging from her religious upbringing: ‘I’m no poster child for Christianity.’
On her marriage to Russell Brand: ‘Like how I write my songs, honesty has always worked for me. So if it ain’t broke, why f**king fix it? Nobody knows what really happened except the two people who are in it. I still believe in love and marriage. I’ve just learned lessons along the way. I regret nothing.’
On her father’s anti-Semitic comments, she says: They ‘were taken completely out of context. There’s not a whole lot you can do. You hope that it passes, which it always does, but they have to be careful. They didn’t necessarily sign up for this.’
On her California Dreams tour: ‘There were times when what was going on in my personal life was so overwhelming that I had to bend over to let those tears fall straight out of my eyes and not my false lashes just as I’m about to go up on that ramp and sing Teenage Dream.’
On creating her own record label: ‘When it does come to fruition, I’m going to try and avoid the things that take away any fighting chance for an artist to have financial success.’
On her success: ‘It’s not like I won the lottery or was born into a lot of money or had connections. I really hustled my way here.’
