Katie Holmes got her wish to become a real girl and celebrated by giving an interview to Elle Magazine August 2012. Holmes filed for divorce on Thursday and Elle Magazine appears to have rushed out this cover because they happened upon a well-timed interview with access no one’s going to have with Holmes for a while now. But this does happen, Kim Kardashian gave an interview with Marie Claire right before filing for divorce and they pretended to have some insight into the matter. Same thing with Heidi Klum who was interviewed by InStyle UK right before her separation from Seal. There are some excerpts from the Mid-May interview below and Page Six’s sources at Elle are overreaching with their observations: A source told P6 ‘Katie didn’t speak about Tom in a lovey-dovey way at all. She deflected the Tom questions and brought them around to herself.’
- On being in her 30s: ‘I definitely feel much more comfortable in my own skin. I feel sexier. I think in my 20s, it’s like you’re trying too hard to figure everything out… I’m starting to come into my own. It’s like a new phase.’
- On being married to Tom Cruise and her identity: ‘He has been Tom Cruise for 30 years… I know who I am and where I am and where I want to go, so I want to focus on that.’
- On how the marriage didn’t help nor skyrocket her career: ‘Things are not handed to anyone. If anything, you work a little bit harder when you’re in such visible circumstances.’
