Jon Gosselin has been fired from his own show, Jon & Kate Plus 8.
How on earth it was possible to get fired off a show that was based around him, his partner, and all the children he helped to spawn was not for certain. Okay, it was for certain. He was fired for being a tool. I think. That’s a sack-able offense, is it not? No? Okay.
Well, there is a new show, about to launch, from TLC. The network says they are wishing to continue the family show, but they will be taking things in a new direction. They don’t say so specifically, but one suspects that direction is any that points away from Jon Gosselin.
TLC, via NY Daily News, revealed that starting November 2, 2009, Jon & Kate Plus 8 will relaunch solely as Kate Plus 8.
“Given the recent changes in the family dynamics, it only makes sense for us to refresh and recalibrate the program to keep pace with the family,” TLC president Eileen O’Neill said in a statement. “The family has evolved and we are attempting to evolve with it; we feel that Kate’s journey really resonates with our viewers.” The network is also in development on a project with Kate for 2010. “Kate Plus Eight” will continue to focus on the eight Gosselin children — 5 year-old sextuplets and 8 year-old twins — but now “include a deeper focus on Kate’s role…and her journey as a single mother.” (via NY Daily News)
Oddly, though his name is removed from the title, TLC are continuing to work with Jon and he’ll be featured on the show, but on a much less regular basis.

why would a story about a woman so bitchy and into herself that she drove her husband into cheating on her (and their 8 kids by proxy) knowing full well he was on television and everyone would know about it and brand him an asshole resonate with anyone? does tlc assume all of their viewers are heartless, unlikable, wenches?

it may be getting a new name and all that jazz, but I still have no intention on wasting an hour of my valuable time seeing this heartless bitch fuss at her kids and whine about what jon did or didn’t doand why she can’t find a man (you know trhat’s what it’s gonna be)

I won’t be watching either – it’s just so mind-meltingly dull and I have no idea why having a working womb warrants a reality show. Oh yeah, the above is the only non-scowling picture I have of her.
