Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake are Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal; discussing the sex scenes in their movies, ignoring all non-sex story arcs, and putting that on a loop, ad nauseum. I could almost tolerate Kunis and her Black Swan co-star Natalie Portman droning on about their lesbian scenes. Because, as Portman correctly points out, ‘everyone wants to see that.’ However, my tolerance for Friends With Benefits has always been low. Not least because a seemingly identical movie is on its tail. For those who’ve not realised, there’s a recently-released explicit trailer for No Strings Attached; another generic f**k buddy movie which starts Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman, both of whom get naked and both of whom are former co-stars of Kunis. It’s all too lazy/ recycled/ incestuous to tolerate. One boy, one girl, lots of nudity and explicit ‘no strings’ sex is the story acr de jour and its actors know not about what else to talk. So, we end up with this; Kunis discussing Justin Timberlake’s attempts to hide his junk using a modesty sock. And the set turning into some kind of famous people nudist colony where they’d just drop their robes and stand around naked.
- On shooting nude scenes: ‘We had two week’s worth of sex scenes to shoot. Justin would just wear a sock that covered his frontal parts, so yeah, I could pretty much see everything. And I had tiny nipple pasties and a little pasty on my hoo-ha. We couldn’t have been more uncomfortable in the beginning, but by the fourteenth day, we’d just drop our robes, like, ‘Hey, how’s it going?”
- On whether ex-boyfriend, Macaulay Culkin [with whom she has since broken up], ever got jealous of that kind of thing: ‘Well, when you sign up for a movie called Friends With Benefits, you kind of know what you’re getting yourself into. But it’s work. It’s all very strategic, because there are 150 crew members trying to light you and make sure no one can see your pasties. And Justin couldn’t have been more of a gentleman, because it can be very awkward.’
- On very similar-sounding rom-com, No Strings Attached, which stars- Black Swan costar Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher, with whom she starred on That 70s Show: ‘(She says to the interviewer) You know, in however many weeks of press I did for Black Swan, you might be the first person to point that out to me.’
