John Travolta, who will be father to a second son with his 47-year-old wife Kelly Preston (they’re not having twins despite rumours), has decided to drop the charges against the pair who tried to extort him in the wake of his first son’s death. In January 2009, Jett Travolta passed away following a seizure, age 16.
A Bahamian court today dismissed charges against a former paramedic and his attorney, accused of trying to extort $25 million, as the actor has asked that the charges be dropped because he had ‘concluded that it was in my family’s best interest for me not to voluntarily return to the Bahamas to testify a second time at trial.’ He continues in a statement, ‘almost a year later, the long pending status of this matter continued to take a heavy emotional toll on my family, causing us to conclude that it was finally time to put this matter behind us.’
