Jim Carrey and girlfriend Jenny McCarthy have broken up, very publicly, after a five year relationship together. The actors both broke the news on Twitter, at around the same time last night. In separate tweets, they gave the usual spiel about how they were grateful for the years they shared together. They weren’t grateful enough to stay together and keep bringing the funnies, but whatever.
In December 2005, [Jenny] McCarthy began dating [Jim] Carrey. She officially announced they were living together in April 2008, when she appeared on Ellen DeGeneres’ Show, but she made it clear that they had no plans to marry. “I’m so grateful for the years Jim and I had together. I will stay committed to Jane and will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart,” McCarthy wrote. Carrey had kind words for her as well. “Jenny and I have just ended our 5yr relationship. I’m grateful 4 the many blessings we’ve shared and I wish her the very best!” [Pop Eater]
