Jessica Simpson’s postpartum reveal took place Monday on Katie Couric’s new talk show. You’d be forgiven for overlooking the segment entirely, because Simpson made a point to be seen leaving LAX for New York City and again right after filming (hours before the episode aired) so everyone already knew what she looked like. It was less of a reveal or interview than a Weight Watchers shill for which she says, in her commercial, she’s just like you; she’s a ‘real’ woman eating ‘real food’ then giving Weight Watchers credit in return for $4 million even though, and I hate to say it, any loss is not apparent since her commercial was filmed weeks ago. She’s just like you, if you can afford a personal trainer, a personal chef, and maybe a nanny to watch your kid while you work out (I don’t know how many hours-per-day Simpson worked out, but Kate Hudson recently admitted to six-hours-per-day so make of that what you will). In her interview with Couric, Simpson mostly talked about the media and how she no longer Googles herself because the weight-shaming has become too immense. Which is why she’s on national television inviting people to scrutinise her weight while neglecting to mention you’ll have to pay Weight Watchers, not the other way around, if you want the program to work for you. Included below, because I don’t even know, is a photo of Simpson’s daughter in baby’s first macrame bikini.
