Jessica Simpson Thought She Would Magically Lose Weight After She Gave Birth. Really.

When Jessica Simpson started eating her feelings, people asked why she was gaining weight with no concern for her postpartum body. Simpson looked full term at about five-months pregnant, or earlier, and it became so cumbersome to navigate in her final trimester that she pretty much stopped leaving her house altogether. And then she gave birth and she’s only been photographed a few times since, including today, so you can see how much she’s lost ahead of next week’s Weight Watchers reveal. Except she hasn’t really lost that much weight, and she only has one week to go before admitting whether or not she lost the desired 50 lbs in five months. I suspect not. Or maybe she gained the 80 lbs the tabloids said she did so that’s throwing off my guesses. In any case, she ate without a care in the world under some misguided notion that nearly doubling her body weight while carrying an 11 lb baby equaled ‘enjoying’ her pregnancy. Then she gave birth and just sat there going ‘Now what?’ No, really. She tells USA Today that she assumed she would lose the weight without having to try. Admitting she’s ‘constantly hungry’ with a ‘big appetite,’ Simpson says: ‘I didn’t realize [the weight] didn’t all come off with the baby. I let myself indulge in everything I wanted because it was the first time I was ever pregnant and I wanted to enjoy it. I wanted to be happy and eat what I wanted. I’m not a supermodel. My body is not bouncing back like a supermodel. I’m just your everyday woman who is trying to feel good and be healthy for her daughter, her fiance and herself. My weight has always been something that people like to comment on. I’ve gotten used to it. It’ll start to get boring at some point, I hope.’
