Jessica Simpson Defends Indian Giver Comment

Jessica Simpson Defends Indian Giver Comment

Jessica Simpson was given a lot of flack for her rather un-PC “Indian Giver” comment.

The controversy started when the 29-year-old singer succumbed to her arrested mental development and spoke in public. She was talking to a TMZ photographer about whether she would take back a $100,000 boat she had given to ex-boyfriend Tony Romo as a birthday gift. Rather than say “Sh*t yeah”, run around to his crib and get her stuff back… or say a polite “No”, she instead chose to remark with the questionable, ā€œI’m not an Indian giver.ā€

Being that TMZ show no mercy, they posted the video of her comment and called her out for the remark – and the possible offense it could cause.

Today there is a jolly new quote out, where some attempt is made to joke and brush off the criticisms. Simpson followed up with her “Indian giver” comment with, “I am Indian, alright?” while outside of Katsuya in Hollywood. Wow.

…of couse i’m not the one with DD’s that my dad wants to pimp out (or maybe worse) lol

    1. It’s cos it was TMZ – they take no prisoners. They have absolutely no mercy!

  2. dean says:

    so fucking what?
what’s the big deal about “Indian giver”?
is someone gonna cry somewhere, because of the heartless use of harsh comments on someone’s exalted ethnic background?
TMZ needs to shut the f*** up and same goes for the bleeding hearts…

    1. TMZ are known for going for the most controversay. It’s how they have grown so much for such a new site. Jess seems not to have suffered to much bad PR over this though.

  3. Rain says:

    She’s Indian?

Me thinks she’s one wampum short of a dollar.

    1. She’s a fan of digging herself in to a deeper and deeper hole. Again, wow.

i like this dean guy. sticks and stones etc, etc.

i’m incredibly sick of people all of a sudden taking offense to terms that have been used for longer than i’m alive. it means someone who gives a gift then takes it back. it has nothing to do with indians (native americans or people from india and boy would the bleeding hearts hate the way i usually specify).

she’s a dumbass for so many reasons, but this ain’t one of em.

    1. I am not familiar with this American phrase – for obvious reasons it does not translate that well… so I’ll have to trust you guys on this.
