Jennifer Lopez did a Saturday Night Live takeover, on the February 27, 2010, episode. She was the host, and the musical guest. I don’t know why she was frontin’ like she still had a musical career, when we all know she was ditched by her label (I don’t believe her protests that rumours were untrue, and it was a mutual split). She did a monologue, a few skits, and even a send-up of a fellow singer. It was a rather light mocking. But since she was mocking someone with an actual career, this looked ever-so-slightly passive aggressive and even catty.
Lopez played herself, when she mocked Rihanna’s lack of vocals. Homegirl is no (pre-crack) Whitney Houston, but at least she can aim and actually hit the Billboard 100 like she means it. As part of an ensemble cast singing a We Are The World parody, Lopez dresses and sings as the Alien Princess. Click to play.

Unless you count her dancing ability, Jennifer Lopez can’t compare to Rihanna. Ever really listen to JLo’s songs? Ever really tune into her acting? UGH. At least Rihanna is a talented performer and singer and has many, many years ahead of her to toy with, professionally.
I think JLO should get over the fact that her career is over. Perhaps she should focus on her children or something…
Agreed, Deb. I wish JLo would give it up already. Her days are at best numbered, and at worst over.
I THInk the best characterization was Gwen Steffani´s Loved it….
JLO WAS JLO….
Ah, good point Giselle – the Gwen Stefani parody was really, really good!
I dont understand the big buzz about it. JLo is not a fabolous singer or actrice, and the years are passing and she’s losing the glow. But I like’d the impression of Ri. and Jlo it was fine.
JLo was never as talented as she thought she was. BUT, neither is Rihanna. She’s an auto-tuned nasal wonk. Give her a few more years until she loses her teen body and she’ll be lucky to be hired as a backup singer at a theme park. Overrated and talentless describes both of these women. Careers created out of hard penises and tin ears.
That may be one of the funniest comments I’ve ever gotten on this site. Kudos, and well-observed.
