Yesterday afternoon the Internet snorted a little more air out of its nose than usual with consternation at comments Salma Hayek made about being ‘disfigured’ by her own baby. Hayek said this of gaining 50 pounds and learning to appreciate giant breasts because it turns out it’s actually great when those gain weight: ‘I gained so much weight, I got an opportunity to see myself completely disfigured in many different ways… for a very good reason… and I don’t regret it for a second,’ she told Latin Glamour. ‘That’s when I started appreciating my body. The things that I used to criticize, they were not that bad after all.’ But Jennifer Lopez is not Salma Hayek. And Lopez stopped slumming long enough to say the exact opposite. Talking about her postpartum body as something she earned carrying her babies, Lopez said: ‘When I got pregnant I remember watching my back, belly and butt grow and thinking, ‘I will never be the same again.’ Then I remember right after the twins were born having that weird jiggly belly… and kind of loving that. Because I earned that jiggly belly.’
