I was picking the fluff out of my belly button earlier today, and reading this news over and over again from different outlets, trying to make sure this was true. After I made sure my innie was clean and I had stared at the reports so long words lost their meaning, it seemed so. It totally looks like Jennifer Lopez has been kicked to the curb by her record label. I’m so giddy from all my giggling that after posting I’m going to take a good long inhale of some exhaust fumes to straighten my head out. This has me buggin’ out, this was bound to happen.
Lopez has been dropped from her long-time record label, Sony. After her last two singles Louboutins & Fresh out the Oven failed to make an impact on the US charts, as well as a delayed & unfinished 7th album Love, it appears Lopez has been pushed out of her deal. [Punchbowl Blog]
Insiders claim the decision was a mutual one between the star and label’s current CEO Rob Stringer. Benny Medina, Jennifer’s representative, confirmed the split: “Jennifer had a wonderful relationship with the Sony Music group, and they have shared many successes together, but the time was right to make a change that best serves the direction her career as an actress and recording artist. She is grateful and appreciative to everyone Sony for all that they accomplished together.” [Pop Crunch]
Love was scheduled to be released April 2010. However, it has now been shelved. This means, hopefully, one less horrific album making our ears bleed this year.
