Jedward Axed by Sony Records After One Single

There is justice in this world. I was considering giving up this human being lark and retiring from the world, so I could frolic in the woods with the squirrels. But it seems now I don’t need to do anything so extreme, just so that I can avoid these two half-wits. The walking musical abortions known as Jedward, or twins John and Edward, have mercifully been dropped from their record label after only one single. Yes. One. The awful duo actually released a cover of Ice Ice Baby, featuring Vanilla Ice, such was the extent of their musical talents. The single reached number two in the UK charts. Rather than having the two sacrificed, and have their blood pay their debt to the record company, they were dropped.

The Vanilla Ice Cover only made it to number two, for most acts this would be a massive deal, but at Jedward’s label second best just doesn’t cut it. A source at Sony said: “We tried our best to make the lads credible artists but the punters just weren’t that bothered. I’m sure Jedward will be able to make a buck touring as a novelty act.” Their manager and dedicated supporter Louis Walsh is still going to helping the duo succeed. He said, “I’m completely committed to Jedward and I know they still have a great career ahead of them. The boys have a sell-out tour in Ireland that they start straight after The X Factor Tour in April and I am in talks with a major record label about a new deal for them.” [Sugarscape]
