Gabourey Sidibe’s Oscar Nomination Reaction

Gabourey Sidibe appeared on Good Morning America, and reacted to her Oscar nomination for Actress in a Leading Role. You can watch her interview below.

Having seen the awesome-ness that was Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire (and suffered the manic-depression thereafter) I know that this Oscar nod is well-deserved. This nomination is nothing short of awe-inspiring, not least because at the time of casting Gabourey Sidibe had no acting experience. Despite this she was still picked to star in the film’s title role, winning over 300 girls competing in regional auditions. I don’t care what anyone thinks, erasing the natural sessy and replacing it with lipo and fake breasticles (yes, Heidi Montag, I’m talking to you) is no substitute for real talent. I probably watched Precious about three times in a row, and each time it struck me how believable Sidibe was in her role; believable as the epic leg-hair Mo’Nique rocked. These two women are workin’ the Black and Bad-ass Flag; a flag I gave up trying to carry after 10 minutes and, um, I’m pretty sure I left it outside that store when I went to get my ass a Slushie. I can’t be trusted with the flag. They can. I hope Sidibe wins and kicks the ass of all the plastic botox bishes sitting on either side of her as she goes. There’s no mistaking God-given talent… as rare as it is.

Make sure to take a deep breath and jump for her very, very cute interview.
