The entire cast of Futurama are being replaced, prior the the show’s relaunch in 2010, since Comedy Central was unable to negotiate a deal with the original cast members, including Katey Sagal and Billy West.
This recession sucks and blows, but I guess this should go some way to deflating the egos of Hollywood names, trying to negotiate inflated pay deals in the recession. The studio claim the cast were offered modest pay increases and all the actors rejected the offers. Which to me sounds like they were given a number to take or leave and the cast went all LC from The Hills and actually thought they had room to negotiate.
Being that the studio were unprepared to up their offer, they began a search for replacements for the entire cast. Matt Groening and David X. Cohen are expected to speak at Comic-Con in San Diego, where a lot of angry fans are bound to make them answer for this. The show is not going to be the same. There is no way replacements can capture the comedy or the spirit of the show.
they might as well not even bother putting it back on the air. its like replacing bart simpson with darth vader. it just ain’t right!
comedy central needs to stop being stingy and the actgors need to stop being so greedy
I agree. Some of the later straight to DVD episodes sent me to sleep. This’ll suck out loud. I hope they get ripped a new one at ComicCon.
