Ellen DeGeneres Twitters About Joining Idol

Ellen DeGeneres is set to replace Paula Abdul on American Idol, so she shared with fans on her official Twitter page.

The TV host is set to be the fourth judge on the panel, she let her followers know in the early hours of this morning. According to a source, the final details of the deal are to be set in stone in a few days, and DeGeneres is excited about the opportunity to be on the show.

  • Ellen DeGeneres Twittered on her official page about Idol: “Guess what? Go ahead… nope… keep guessing… Okay, I’ll just tell you–I’m gonna be the new judge on American Idol!”.

The Ellen Show also made an announcement about Idol, on the episode that went to air earlier today, Thursday September 10, 2009. The video of the announcement is below.

“We’re all delighted to have Ellen join our ninth season of American Idol,” said executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz, as reported on RadarOnline.com. “Beyond her incredible sense of humor and love of music, she brings with her an immense warmth and compassion that is almost palpable. She is one of America’s foremost entertainers, and we cannot wait to have her join our team.”

    1. I think she’ll be good – she’s kind of too nice for this, but I’ll watch her for sure.

    One thing is certain, had she been on the judges’ panel when Adam Lambert was competing the outcome might have been different. But maybe that’s just me. I see an anti-Gay conspiracy everywhere.

    1. I agree – I only caught onto the story at the tail end, as it didn’t air over here at the same time. However, someone as positive a mouthpiece as Ellen would have helped the “real” winner to win.
