Dannii Minogue X-Factor Comment Scandal

Dannii Minogue X Factor Comment Scandal

On this Saturday’s The X-Factor, on the first of the two weekend shows where the contestants got to perform polished songs for the first time, one of the four judges over-stepped the mark and really got the game going.

Dannii Minogue, the younger sister of more popular singer, Kylie Minogue, made a rather underhanded comment. The comment deliberately outed a contestant, Danyl Johnson, who was being mentored by one of the rival judges.

After the final performance of the night where Danyl Johnson performed Jennifer Hudson’s song And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going, the panel set about deliberating. During the entire night, rather than do anything that resembled judging, Minogue instead made remarks to a handful of contestants about rumours she had read about them in the newspapers.

The most malicious comment made that night was aimed at 27-year-old Johnson, and ended up outing him as bi-sexual on a live show, in front of millions of viewers. Minogue spoke to point out the oddity of a male singer being given a song originally by a woman. She then turned on her b*tch-switch and commented that if certain rumours were true, why did Johnson need to change the gender references in the song. Meaning, I read in the papers that you’re gay/ bi, so why change the gender mentioned in the song.

She was asked to repeat the comment by Simon Cowell, Johnson’s mentor, and like an efftard she did so, to very loud booing. The boos were aimed at her, from the audience who didn’t miss what a capital B she attempted to be.

Knowing she had one of the weaker categories to mentor, the girls, rather than focus on the competition, she spread rumours and tried to take the focus off singing. In my opinion it was a low, tacky blow, which lost her a lot of fans. Her actions resulted in the show being flooded with complaints. Reports and polls I’ve been checking, since the show aired, have supported the views above. A lot of people agree she was being overeager and overreaching, by forcibly outing a contestant. Good on Johnson for telling her he was not ashamed of who he is, to rapturous applause from the audience.

Wow. I never liked that horsefaced-fug slapper, but now I have a reason to hate. I hope she gets an incurable yeast infection.

    1. I was indifferent to her, but I am so mad over this. While I was watching the show, I was like “What did that cow just say… did she just out a damn contestant. Who does that?”. It’s a low blow and the desperate apology today won’t do much. People are still mad, complaining to the network, and asking for her to be fired.
