David Arquette has been speaking on the radio about his June break-up with Courteney Cox. The actors, currently filming Scream 4 together, confirmed their split in a statement. I noted that the statement left a whole bunch of details out and I guess Arquette agreed as he lost his mind and over-shared a bunch of details on Howard Stern. Speaking on the controversial radio show, not exactly the classiest forum for discussing the breakdown of an 11-year marriage that leaves in its wake a six-year-old, Arquette listed the reasons Cox and he split with the causality of a morning coffee order. Rather than have the good grace to dryly recite the politically-correct platitudes so readily available in the statement, he went way off script and started talking about their sex life, who he’s scored with since June, and Cox leaving because she was sick of mothering her man-child husband. Listing his ex-partner’s faults, Arquette said, “She tries to take on every body’s problems. She’s trying to be the mother to everyone.” Adding, “That’s why she doesn’t want to be the mother of me anymore.” Of the reason for the split, he said, “[She told him] ‘I don’t wanna be your mother anymore.’ I appreciated that. I respected it.” He continued, “I’ve been going to therapy. I’m trying to grow up. I’m trying to be true to myself.
