Corey Haim Died RIP: Prescription Drugs Found

Corey Haim died, in the early hours of this morning. The 80s star, best known for his roles alongside fellow former-teen actor Corey Feldman, was 38-years-old at the time of his death. The death had parallels to many of the other celebrity deaths of the past few years; Haim was found in a room of an apartment, by an immediate family member, in the early hours of the morning, he was unresponsive, of a suspected prescription drug overdose. How many times have you read that report now, over and over? Feels like at least a dozen, right?

Haim had been sick, the past couple of days, with flu-like symptoms. Sources tell TMZ the medications found in his home were not related to that specific illness (moreover, there were no illegal narcotics in his home either).

Sources say Haim got out of bed just before 1 AM and collapsed in front of his mother. She called 911 at 12:53 AM and Corey was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:15 AM. [TMZ]

At this time, though authorities are not certain, it is believed Haim died of a drug overdose. Pics below, and video of Haim three-weeks before his death.

  1. Man, they just keep getting younger and younger. It’s got to be difficult, as a celebrity reporter, to write about these seemingly endless deaths of young, talented people.

I read this over on Huff, and so many of the comments were so heartless. So many people do not understand addiction, and the struggle that an addict has to go through their whole life – made that much more difficult if it a public life.

It is a terrible shame, and I appreciate your thoughtful and respectful handling of it, as you do with all of the untimely deaths you have had to report.

As always, Amy Grindhouse is a class act.

    Keep it up.

      Thanks!

I make a point to not do certain things in the event of a celebrity death because, as you say, yes, this does become very wearing. I don’t cover salacious minutiae of each case, I don’t post without researching for some time first, and I don’t feel the need to speak ill of the dead.

I’m with you. There are some sites I avoid with things like this, there’s just no need to expose yourself to people with so little heart and tact.
