Christina Aguilera: ‘I’m A Fat Girl… Get Over It’

Christina Aguilera covers Billboard Magazine to whom she recounts more anecdotes about the weight-shaming by her own record label who’ve been screaming ‘RIBS ARE FOR FATTIES’ at the singer since she was a teenager. She tells Billboard of meetings held by the label for no reason other than to pick over the affect her weight was having on her career. She told them, though, she’ll eat as many cookies as she wants, thank you, because they’re delicious. And eating less of them isn’t going to stop her next album from tanking as did Bionic. ‘I got tired of being a skinny, white girl. I am Ecuadorian but people felt so safe passing me off as a skinny, blue-eyed white girl,’ she says, explaining that she was literally told her weight gain was the cause of her music career faltering and so failure to lose the weight would risk people’s jobs. ‘They called this serious emergency meeting about how there was a lot of backlash about my weight. Basically, they told me I would effect a lot of people if I gained weight; the production, musical directors… [However] I told them ‘You are working with a fat girl. Know it now and get over it.’ They need a reminder sometimes that I don’t belong to them. It’s my body. My body can’t put anyone in jeopardy of not making money anymore; my body is just not on the table that way anymore.’

It’d be easier to deal if, when she was skinny & successful, she hadn’t been a snotty-nosed little bitch to people like Kelly Osborne about her weight. Karma, baby…
