Chris Brown, singer/ dancer and (so far as I was concerned a few days ago) a mini Michael Jackson, has been accused of assault and arrested over the allegations – the R&B star posted his $50,000 bail shortly thereafter [Website – Amy Grindhouse].
All kinds of horrific details have been leaking in this case, including that Brown was – according to some sources – beating down on Alien Princess RiRi.
Have to take off my smack-talking hat again for a second and get serious.
According to reports from TMZ, Brown and a woman, who has not been formally identified, were arguing inside a vehicle around 12:30am yesterday morning, when suddenly things turned violent. Brown released his inner Ike Turner and kissed his career bye-bye, after he reportedly hit the woman around the face so hard he gave her visible bruises. The woman told police Brown was her attacker.
As Brown had left the scene by the time the popo arrived, he then had to hand himself over to authorities at an LAPD station. When TMZ called reps for Brown’s girlfriend RiRi for a statement, her people told them, “Rihanna is well. Thank you for your concern and support.” Because of all the madness, both RiRi and Brown missed the Grammy’s entirely.

As an update to the weekend’s bucket load of crazy, details are emerging about Brown’s abusive childhood and also how his sponsors are getting antsy.
According to Gate Crasher, Brown had previously told Giant magazine that his stepfather used to beat his mother. “He used to hit my mom … He made me terrified all the time, terrified like I had to pee on myself,” the 19-year-old said. ”I remember one night he made her nose bleed. I was crying and thinking, ‘I’m just gonna go crazy on him one day…’ I hate him to this day.” People online are already taking this a a cue and reading more into the link than there probably is. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt until more details are released.
The latest news on Brown is that Wrigley announced that they suspended its ad campaign for Double Mint chewing gum, which featured the star. Wrigley said in a statement, “We have made the decision to suspend the current advertising featuring Brown and any related marketing communications until the matter is resolved.” The company would not blatantly say they had ditched Brown (as they are likely looking out for the money invested so far). They did say Brown should be “afforded the same due process as any citizen.”
UPDATE - Despite allegations of assault with a deadly weapon, Splash News says these reports are untrue.
UPDATE – According to TMZ Brown could be facing nine years in prison for ‘making criminal threats’.

I’m actually at loss for words on this one. I’m a fan of Chris Brown, and hope that these reports end up being flase or fabricated. He’d been so squeaky clean to this point. It makes you wonder what made him snap? Then again…if you were stuck in a limo with Rihanna, wouldn;t you go crazy? lol
At least Chris’ career is over and that will teach his young fans that there are consequences for actions such as this. And hopefully Rihanna will speak out about domestic violence.
This is one of the most shocking gossip stories I’ve covered in 2 and 1/2 years. Sad.
@ Mystery Man – I have no real idea what is happening, so many conflicting reports and rumours. I am waiting for the full story to come out before actually pointing fingers…
@ FC – Good point, I think celebrity justice has to go outta the door on things like this. The punishment must fit the crime.
it sounds like, leading up to the Grammys, there was growing tension between Chris Brown and Rihanna that led to the abuse incident; still no excuse
People are saying that they had broken up beforehand and the tension came from their record companies making them pretend to be a couple – but I agree, no excuse. I hope he isn’t juts slapped on the wrist for this.
