Further to the post with all of the current details on the passing of DJ AM, celebrities have been online and making statements about this sad news. The first place a lot of them have turned was Twitter. The social network’s current number one trending topic is RIP DJ AM. His celebrity friends and others who just wanted to pay their respects have written messages of condolence.
- Shanna Moakler appeared to be the first person on Twitter to share her grief, her ex-husband Travis Barker survived a plane crash with the DJ around a year ago: “My deepest condolences for DJ AM, you were a great artist and will be severely missed. My thoughts and Prayers to his family and friends,” she wrote on her Twitter page.
- Danny Masterson, originally from That 70s Show, knew Goldstein from the DJ circuit: “RIP DJ.AM I love u and am so f******g crushed ur gone.”
- Ashton Kutcher, also originally from That 70s Show, gave a brief tweet: “Much love to my boy AM.”
- Demi Moore shared in her husband’s grief: “The shock of DJ AM has me at a loss for words…his joyous spirit was a gift to us all! “
- Samantha Ronson, is also a celebrity DJ, and the pair were often seen running in the same circles. She Tweeted her disbelief and said she could not believe this was really happening: ”@atrak I’m with you on this one,” in response to a message from DJ Atrak. “Waiting for someone to say this isn’t true.”
- Lindsay Lohan who is something of a Twitter addict said: “I can’t believe this.. i’m in shock. why? why? r.i.p. adam”
- Paris Hilton left quite a few messages in a row, including these: “Why does it take a minute to say hello and forever to say goodbye?” She said. “R.I.P. AM, I love you and you are already missed so much. My heart and prayers go out to his family and close friends. God bless.
” She continued, “It’s so hard to accept that I’m not going to be able to see him or talk to him again. There are no right words for this, I feel so sad.” - Katy Perry shared her condolences: “Rest in peace friend.”
- Josh Groban Tweeted a similar message: “Rest in peace Adam.”
- Jordin Sparks tweeted a sweet message to DJ AM’s family: “My prayers go out to his family. Please keep them in your thoughts.”
- John Mayer wrote several tweets in sadness, including the following: “I really want to use words right now but I can’t get em,” he wrote.
- Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy expressed his shock: “R.I.P. . I’m sorry to loved ones. So unexpected.”
- Ricky Martin also shared a message: “D.J. AM rest in peace. be an angel of light.”
- Heidi Montag, who always shares her thoughts on such events: “My thoughts and prayers are with DJ AM’s family and friends.”
- Alyssa Milano, who recently wed: “May you rest in peace, Adam. You touched many with your light and will be missed like crazy.”
- Sean Diddy Combs gave a short message: “DJ AM Rest In Peace.”
- Kelly Osbourne also left a message saying: “I just cant believe that adam (dj.am) is gone i dont want to believe it im in shock. he was one of the most genuine people i have ever met!”
- Emmy Rossum twittered the following: “RIP AM… You were loved and respected and will be missed.”
- Olivia Munn twittered about working with the DJ recently: “DJ AM just died. So sad. Worked with him on Iron Man 2 and he was a really great guy. Rest in peace.”
- Solange Knowles said what I was thinking about people’s accusations: “I hope people don’t taint his legacy…..because there isn’t any concrete proof yet. That guy was a walking miracle.”
- Tony Hawk offered support to Travis Barker: ” Not everything happens for a reason. Thinking of you, @trvsbrkr. Stay strong.”
At the time of this post going live (3:54AM GMT on August 29, 2009) neither the Twitters of Travis Barker nor Nicole Richie had a message up. However, Richie is said to be grieving.

- Travis Barker on playing a concert: “Don’t know how I am gonna play 2night but I am for AM. My brother is gone. I love u and miss u, I’ll never forget all the good times we had,” he said.
- Travis Barker on their shared tragedy: “I’ll never forget everything we’ve been thru and every time I play the drums I’ll think of you. U were an amazing friend/DJ/human being.”
- Travis Barker’s most recent message: “Rest In Peace my brother, this really f*cks me up.”

This is the second DJ death in NYC this week.
It’s been a bad year.
It’s been a damn awful year. For not the first time this year, I awoke in the night to find out that another damn celebrity had died. Same thing with MJ. It’s not a pleasent way to wake up.
