Kanye West Saturday Night Live Power and Runaway performance video.

Kanye West has been allowed back on live television after behaving himself at this year’s VMAs. It’s nice to see he can be let off his short leash to perform and not screw things up. Actually, by all accounts, the rapper killed it with his two performances on this weekend’s Saturday Night Live as broadcast Saturday September 2, 2010. West performed the first single from Dark Twisted Fantasy, formerly entitled Good Ass Job, as well as his follow-up single Runaway. Y’all didn’t seem to know what the heck to make of the preview for that video. Nor did I. But, the song itself is passable. Both songs are shown in the video.

Britney Spears’ Glee episode is out of the way and I can stop bombarding you with information about it. I’m not going to do that, ‘cos I’m feeling like kind of an a$$hole today. Just not cooperative whatsoever (I’m going to write myself a sternly-worded letter about my own behaviour when I’m done with this post). The full Britney/ Brittany episode of Glee is in another post and I had the pleasure of watching. As I suspected, my favourite thing about the episode and what got people talking was Heather Morris’ impressions of Spears. As I already noted, she’s a trained/ skilled dancer who moves with the speed and precision Spears used to. I was more interested to watch Glee’s I’m a Slave 4 U and Brittany and Santana Against the Music than Spears’ sparse and wooden cameos that lacked any charisma whatsoever. Seriously, what was that? Seems I’m not the only one bored by Spears during her own episode. Gawker has a great round-up and analysis of the episode with highlights that aren’t geo-blocked, if anyone wants to watch. I found the above video over at Cele|Buzz along with old clips of Morris dance training. It’s Glee Cheerio cheerleader Brittany, who didn’t have a full name before this Tuesday and is now revealed to be called Brittany S. Pierce (S. stands for Susan), and her cotton-candy and unicorn glitter-brained one-liners.

Australia’s Next Top Model host Sarah Murdoch goofs winner name on live TV.

A weaveless Tyra Banks is somewhere frowning with her eyes. Frowning and then coming up with some obnoxious name for ‘frowning with your eyes’. ‘Fries’. Or something stupid. Because that’s just how she rolls. And, it’s always about her.

She’d have reason to fight through the botox to frown though. Her counterpart on the Australian version of her show, creatively named Australia’s Next Top Model, goofed and screwed with the minds of two young contestants on live television. Probably the reason America’s Next Top Model doesn’t go out live in the same manner. It’s asking for trouble. AusNTM host Sarah Murdoch, supermodel wife of News Corp. drop-out Lachlan Murdoch, daughter-in-law of Rupert Murdoch, named the wrong person the winner of the contest on last night’s finale. Murdoch initially announced 19-year-old Kelsey Martinovich as the winner, congratulating her and allowing the girl to revel in the moment. Then, the host looked panicked as producers said in her ear that she’d been fed the wrong name (votes were neck-and-neck all night). The audience looked panicked too as Murdoch freaked out and revealed, slowly, the real winner was Amanda Ware, 18. There was a minute-long gap in correcting the mistake… from 55secs.

Amy Poehler is fun, right? Like, she was on Saturday Night Live despite the fact it’s a dying turd. So she has a pretty good sense of humour. You wouldn’t know it because she covered up her funbags on this segment for Sesame Street. This will not stand. Katy Perry’s breasts led me to believe that one must expose one’s cleavage on this show. MUST. Those things refused to be contained despite Perry using some kind of clever ‘breast-catching net’ over her whole clavicle. They were so controversial, her boobs managed to get banned from the show based on little more than negative YouTube comments and some bad PR. I gather that’s the way to go with one’s segment. Not whatever this is. All I see is Poehler, fully dressed, and Elmo talking about the word ‘Challenge’. No boobs. I don’t get it.

Mariah, LG Live at the Singapore Grand Prix 2010, 26 Sep’10, Make it Happen.

This is such a weird video. I have to start by putting that out there. Thing is, I saw this video floating around on the weekend and did my best to ignore it as videos of celebrities falling are generally played out. That is, as I forgot, unless they involve Mariah Carey’s attempts to slide across the stage while farting unicorn farts onto her glittery dancers. The video above shows Moo Moo, who needs to hurry up and confirm the pregnancy as this is getting embarrassing, on stage in Singapore over the weekend. While performing her track Make it Happen, at around 10 seconds into the video, Carey falls over. In slow motion. With a goofy grin on her face. Like she’s filming the same scene in the movie of her life and there’s a crash mat waiting for her. Then she’s helped up by glittery dancers and someone whose job involves ‘holding Moo Moo when she’s too full of hams to stand straight’ (those things play havoc with your equilibrium).

Brittany & Santana Against The Music, Glee’s take on Spears’ track w/ Madonna.

There’s another preview of the Glee episode that’s starring and featuring the music of Britney Spears. The singer, who tweeted about her appearence, will have an episode based around her air next Tuesday. This is a weird preview, and nothing like as exciting as the first. I’m kind of hoping they stop at two previews and avoid that thing modern promotional trailers do… and ruin the suspense. This clip shows two supporting characters, Brittany (not given a last name by the show’s producers) and Santana Lopez, cheerleaders, at the dentist. Lopez is seen bullying her dentist into giving her treatment despite her ‘perfect teeth’, or something. I fell asleep somewhere around 15 seconds in, heck if I know. I guess I only nodded off, as I woke up for the beginning of Brittany and Santana Against The Music, Glee’s take on Spears’ track with Madonna, Me Against The Music. Anyone else thinking this episode’s going to be hit-and-miss after watching this?
