Jon Hamm on Saturday Night Live This Weekend

Jon Hamm of Mad Men was the host of Saturday Night Live this weekend. For his SNL hosting stint, Hamm opened with a monologue. That’s shown below. Following that was the Rihanna and Andy Samberg Ronnie & Clyde SNL Digital Short. Posted below are additional sketches that top off this weekend’s SNL coverage; coverage that includes Rihanna performing What’s My Name and Only Girl in the World and Jon Hamm’s SNL photo bumpers. There’s another of the live comedy show’s takes on Vincent Price’s Halloween Special. Bill Hader stars as Price, Fred Armisen as Liberace, and Hamm as Senator John F. Kennedy (the special was set in 1960), with Hamm’s JFK asking Kristen Wiig’s Judy Garland for some of her pills for his ‘back pain’. Also, there was another SNL gay kiss. This time between Jon Hamm and Jason Sudeikis in a CHiPs-like parody entitled, Highway Cops. For this sketch they rode and told homoerotic jokes. After the gay kiss we got ‘That felt good as hell… I can’t wait to tell my wife.’ Then there’s another questionable sketch, questionable in comedy that is, with Hamm as the exasperated host of embarrassing viral video show I Didn’t Ask for This.

Jon Hamm Saturday Night Live Hosting Photos

Jon Hamm was the host of this weekend’s Saturday Night Live, October 30. The Mad Men actor wasn’t forced to drown in MM-related sketches the whole night. Most Don Draper jokes were out of the way in the opening segment; coming up with spontaneous advertising campaigns in the manner of his womanising/ chain-smoking/ heavy-drinking character. The videos are in another post, below are the photo bumpers of what I gather most wet dream of as the World’s Handsomest Man. Well, one particular straight guy friend seems to have a man-crush on him and have that opinion. Weirdly, I don’t really think I see it. The guy’s good-looking, I guess. He’s obviously not ugly. But, maybe that’s my visceral reaction to him being called ‘good-looking’ every five minutes on Mad Men. It was every second line during the first and second seasons of the show in particular; as though the copious womanising needed an explanation, that his slicked hair/ sharp suits and the like were such panty-droppers the women around him couldn’t help but fall at his feet. Anyways. Check out his photos and also his monologue. Rihanna was the musical guest performing What’s My Name? and Only Girl in the World. She also played Clyde in Ronnie and Clyde Part II.

Rihanna SNL Only Girl in the World Performance

Rihanna performed Only Girl in the World on this weekend’s Saturday Night Live.

On the Saturday October 30, 2010 show, as hosted by Jon Hamm of Mad Men and on which the singer played one half of ‘Ronnie’ and ‘Clyde’ in Ronnie & Clyde: Shy Ronnie Part II, Rihanna sang two tracks. This and What’s My Name? There were some questionable fashion choices during the other song too. At least no tube tops were harmed during the making of this performance. Wearing a matchy matchy ketchup-colour outfit from head-to-toe, I actually think this get-up is worse. There’s a red hair accessory, to match a dress of the same colour. All of which matches her hair. Wow. And she seems to be grabbing her boob at one point in the song. I gather that’s a performance technique to reach higher notes. At least that’s what I gathered from my one and only voice lesson.

Rihanna What’s My Name? Performance on SNL

Rihanna was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live’s October 30 episode.

Below is video of Rihanna performing What’s My Name? on Saturday’s show. The track is one of two she performed this weekend, from her new album, Loud. An album I’ll probably be avoiding as none of the tracks I’ve heard to date have been my cup. Rihanna wears a yellow cardigan and red tube top thing. And five thick ass bracelets on one arm. I get the outfit as much as I get the hair. But maybe that’s just me. The performances were in addition to Rihanna’s Digital Short, as one half of ‘Ronnie’ and ‘Clyde’, in Ronnie & Clyde: Shy Ronnie Part II.

Rihanna Ronnie & Clyde SNL Digital Short Video

Rihanna stars in the below Ronnie & Clyde SNL Digital Short with Andy Samberg.

The 22-year-old was the musical guest on this weekend’s episode, as hosted by Jon Hamm. The singer was in rehearsals last week, preparing for her dual performances of What’s My Name? and Only Girl in the World, two songs I’ve been going to great lengths to not listen to in full. Those are coming. Below is a follow-up to December 2009′s Shy Ronnie sketch; the one that scored Saturday Night Live’s writers an Emmy Awards 2010 nomination. Entitled Ronnie & Clyde: Shy Ronnie Part  II, Rihanna and Samberg star as ‘Shy Ronnie’, and ‘Clyde’ in this bank robber-themed SNL Digital Short from Saturday October 30′s show.

Taylor Squints Tries Hard Not to Squint… Fails

Taylor Squints made an appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman. The singer, rumoured to be dating Jakey Poo Gyllenhaal, though early pictures of their ‘date‘ made it look like more of a group thing, was on the show wearing another canary yellow dress, another red lip and sporting more tales of failure with her curling/ crimping iron. Squints does look pretty cute here. Aside from the fact this kind of looks like a prom dress her mother had to take in about three sizes. Photos below show Squints at the Ed Sullivan Theater on October 26.
