Michael Jackson Memorial Service Televised

Michael Jackson’s memorial service is being televised live on most major networks, for people who sadly did not win the ticket lottery. The MJ memorial service is also being streamed live and there are several options should you wish to watch the proceedings online.

If you would rather go online than watch the Michael Jackson memorial service televised, see below for four ways to keep up with the day’s events:

  1. UStream: Above is a UStream video, which is focused on the Staples center. The stream is bought to you in conjunction with CBS. The memorial is on a continuous stream. If you cannot play the video above, check out the UStream channel with the same footage.
  2. Facebook: You can also watch the Michael Jackson memorial service via other social networks. For example, you can watch via Facebook and CNN. They are allowing people to update their statuses with remembrance messages from CNN.com Live and these updates will be visible to users worldwide. Replays at 4pm ET and 7pm ET.
  3. MySpace: Starting at 10am PSDT, there is a live stream of the memorial service for those who would like to watch via aching dinosaur MySpace.
  4. Hulu: Last but not least, if you are in the US, you can watch via video Hulu (pretty sure they block non-US users from accessing videos).

The televised memorial service began on morning cable channels like MSNBC. Over 1 billion people are expected to watch the memorial on TV or the Internets. Analysts are calling the memorial the largest media event, ever. Every cable news organization is running a live feed with hours of lead in analysis, while simultaneously running live streaming video online.

Police are saying that despite their pleas, 1 million non-ticket holders are predicted to flood the area. If you don’t have a ticket, pull up a cushion and avoid the crowds. Pushing and shoving out in the parking lot is no way to remember the king of pop.

Debbie Rowe Yelling at a Crowd of Paparazzi

FP_3228850_Rowe2_Debbie_SAM_070509

Debbie Rowe has suddenly been thrust back into the media spotlight, since the premature passing of her baby’s daddy, Michael Jackson.

When surrounded by some over-zealous paparazzi, the woman who is possibly in the running to take custody of the Jackson children, went postal and threatened to beat down anyone who got too close. One can assume that this meant any animal, mineral, vegetable, man, woman or child within punching-distance would have gotten a taste of her raging man-fists. Rowe is a big girl and is looking more and more like a roid vadged female linebacker as the days go on and she presumably buries her feelings in a big bucket ‘o wings.

Granted, it was a hot day and she was being hunted like Hohan’s coke dealer or something, but her reaction (from fairly early in the video) is still ridic..

Michael Jackson’s Funeral has $25 Admission

No, that was not a series of typos. I don’t think so anyway. You read right. The funeral of Michael Jackson, which will be held at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles and not Neverland, will involve ticket sales and a $25 admission.

Fans who wish to attend Michael Jackson’s star-studded memorial service at Staples Center will have to shell out $25 to sit in the stands, Radar Online has learned exclusively. Family, friends and VIPS will have seats on the main floor for The Tuesday, July 7th Staples service, first reported by RadarOnline.com, while the general public will be plucking down $25 to sit in the stands.

The memorial service will feel like a concert production featuring guest speakers, a lot of music and video screens inside and outside of Staples, a source close to the planning tells RadarOnline.com. (Radar Online)

Not sure how I feel about this, but pretty sure it makes me feel stabby.

This man’s entire life was about people making money off him. And though money may not be the primary motive for involving ticket agencies in all this, that will be a byproduct. Whomever is organising it may have done it to monitor attendance numbers or stem the flow of the freeloading vultures (press or whatever). But, you’ve gotta admit this smells like last week’s leftovers. Rotten.

Michael Jackson Albums Take Over the Charts

Michael Jackson’s scorching-hot musical back-catalogue is setting the Billboard pop charts on fire.

Well, high sales online and off were kind of a foregone conclusion, after the celebrity’s untimely passing last week. But no one could have known just how stupidly high the sales figures were going to be.

The night the singer died, Twitter and all other social networks were buzzing with two things; one, rumours of what the heck actually happened in the star’s last hours and two, lists of people’s favourite songs. This made it apparent that people were not done listening to Thriller and the like. It seems that all these millions of people then got off their networks and all of them went and bought every record they could get their hands on.

Based on preliminary sales numbers from Nielsen SoundScan, the top nine positions on Billboard’s Top Pop Catalog Albums chart will house Jackson-related titles when the tally is released in the early morning on Wednesday. Remember, too, that SoundScan’s tracking ends on a Sunday — just three days after Michael’s death. These numbers will be even bigger for the coming week. (via Evil Beet)

This will be awesome news for the Jackson family estate. Here’s hoping a vain hope, that some of the money generated from sales will go to the little Scandinavian looking babies who lived in Jackson’s house for a decade but weren’t biologically related to him.

“Number Ones” will fittingly lead the pack at No. 1 with sales of 108,000 (an increase of 2,340 percent) while “The Essential Michael Jackson” and “Thriller” are in the second and third slots with 102,000 and 101,000, respectively. Last week “Number Ones” was the only Jackson title on the chart, at No. 20 with 4,000 copies; both “Essential” and “Thriller” re-enter the tally this week.

Additionally, his classic 1979 studio set “Off the Wall” re-enters at No. 4 with 33,000 while his 1987 album “Bad” returns at No. 6 with 17,000. At No. 5, the Jackson 5’s “The Ultimate Collection” debuts with 18,000. Jackson’s fourth studio album for Epic Records, 1991’s “Dangerous,” re-enters at No. 7 with 14,000, and his 2001 compilation, “Greatest Hits: HIStory — Volume 1,” returns to the list at No. 8 with 12,000. Finally, Jackson’s 2004 box set, “The Ultimate Collection,” charts its first week on the Pop Catalog chart, arriving at No. 9 with 11,000.

The lone non-Jackson-related set in the top 10 is a reissue of the “Woodstock” movie soundtrack, which bows at No. 10 with 8,000. (via Yahoo)
