Mariah Sings ‘I’ll Be There’ @ Jackson Memorial

Mariah Carey sings the famous ballad, I’ll be There at the Michael Jackson televised memorial, along with Trey Lorenz (gallery far right).

A full video of her singing this moving song in remembrance of MJ can be found above, via MSNBC. The singer wore a long, silky black gown and wore her hair down. She seemed visibly shaken from the start and seemed to have trouble getting the notes out, without her voice cracking. She moved a lot of people to tears (and I was very nearly one of them).

Usher ‘Gone Too Soon’ @ Jackson Memorial

Usher, who had worked with Michael Jackson recently, sang Gone too Soon, at the Michael Jackson memorial. The singer did a great job and at one point appeared to be fighting back tears. Very moving. Not sure how I felt about him descending from the stage at 2:10 in and singing to Jackson’s solid gold coffin (gallery far left), but this was not a day for logic or reason, so I’ll let commentary slide.

Brooke Shields at Michael Jackson Memorial

Brooke Shields appeared and spoke at the Michael Jackson memorial. The actress recalled how when the pair met, they’d bonded over the fact they were both child stars thrust into the limelight at a young age. Shields was one of many people who made an appearance and gave such a moving memorial speech.

Photos of Brooke Shields and Michael Jackson together are below.

Jennifer Hudson at Michael Jackson Memorial

Jennifer Hudson sings Will You Be There at the Michael Jackson memorial.

The full video of the Grammy winning singer and her growing pregnancy baby bump can be seen above in the video. If any one can be relied upon to belt out a moving performance, it’s Hudson.

Jermaine Jackson ‘Smile’ @ Jackson Memorial

Jermaine Jackson, brother to the late Michael, sings Smile at the Jackson memorial performance. The singer was clearly and understandably shaken, but he did a great job of getting through what must have been a really tough performance for him. The lyrics are an especially good fit for the occasion.
