Basically… yes. Last week, it was reported that the sister of singers Nick Carter and Aaron Carter, Leslie Carter, 25, died of an overdose of anti-depressants. It was all around horrid and tragic and, according to some, inevitable because her family was one big exploitation machine and she never had a chance. She passed and was survived by a 10-month-old daughter and a husband. The funeral was this weekend. As in Sunday 5. The same date Nick Carter was seven-hours away in concert. Well, this is awkward. Us Weekly claims the former Backstreet Boy blew off the funeral to instead honour a ‘previously booked engagement at the iHeart Performance Studio in Bala Cynwyd, PA’ the same night; his third pre-booked performance since the death on February 1. However, notes TMZ.com, it’s more complicated than that since the 32-year-old claimed he would have attended the Freay Funeral Home Mayville, N.Y. and the Chautauqua County Cemetery where his sister was laid to rest… except no one told him about it. He told TMZ: ‘I wanted to be at my sister’s funeral, but my family has always had a complicated dynamic. There are so many emotions for me surrounding the loss of my sister. I am trying to stay healthy, positive, and focused.’ Sources tell TMZ: Nick feels the family went out of their way to make sure he wasn’t included.

In a story I ignored earlier today (partially because it stank of irresponsible tinkles and partially because I was running errands all morning), it was reported that Kelly Osbourne fell off the wagon and started drinking again; something she half-denied. RadarOnline.com claimed that Osbourne started drinking again at Art of Elysium pre-Golden Globes party, after three-years of sobriety. A source claimed: ‘Kelly is definitely off the wagon again, at least when it comes to drinking. I’ve seen her out drinking cocktails, beer and champagne numerous times, and I’ve seen her pretty unsteady on her feet too. Kelly was so wasted. At one point she almost fell back and I had to catch her! When she gets drinking her hatred for Christina Aguilera really comes out. She spent the entire night talking about how much she hates Christina! Maybe she thinks it’s OK for her to be drinking as her past problems were pills, but as far as I know if you want to be ‘sober’ you need to be SOBER, period.’ In an update, the website admits it didn’t even get the location or date right in its original report. Osbourne slammed the allegations on Twitter: ‘thats funny radar because i was not even at any of the after parties i was working!!!! @radar_online please stop writing bulls**t about me i did not even go to any golden globe parties i was working! i will say this till I’m blue in the face I DO ENOUGH STUPID S**T YOU DONT NEED TO MAKE THINGS UP! my room mate & i are having a proper laugh about all this B,S press he goes ‘i wish you were that fun U never do anything but work old lady’… If I want to have a drink them Im going to have a drink Im 27 years old! Was their story true? NO! is it anyones business NO? Trust me I’ve worked to hard to go and f**k my life up again… and thats quite frankly all i have to say on this stupid subject!’

Kyle Richards of Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills is shilling some book about which I don’t care, except for one excerpt claiming everyone should get to touch bumps with a random outside their marriage at least once. Richards posits that cheating can be a mistake rather than a selfish partner who doesn’t care enough about their SO to communicate/ keep it in their pants. IMO, cheating is always grounds for a split; it’s never a mistake, it’s never okay. Moreover, the relationship is over the second they cheat, not the second they’re caught, and, for me, there’s no comeback. However, I gather some people are indifferent to being cheated on. Asked what she meant by: ‘If you cheat on your spouse once do not tell. You get a free pass…’ Richards replied: ‘I [knew] I was going to get some heat for that… Listen, if this really was a one time mistake, and you did not put this person in jeopardy, I personally think you should deal with it with yourself and with God and not go and say: ‘Honey look what I did,’ because I knew that this would ruin their relationship and their life. So I said: ‘It did not happen.’ And I can tell you that many, many, many years later they’re happy and together and she did make that mistake and she has to carry that and live with that…’ Actually, they’re not happily married since the dude’s wife’s a cheating slore who’s been lying all this time. Whatever helps these people sleep at night.

Former NYU professor José Angel Santana is suing for wrongful termination as a result of giving James Franco a D-grade. Santana issued the grade for missing 12 of the 14 classes in the MFA course, Directing the Actor. Santana alleges Franco only passed his other classes because of his celebrity. ‘In my opinion, they’ve turned the NYU graduate film degree into swag for James Franco’s purposes; a possession, something you can buy,’ Santana told the NY Post. ‘The university has done everything in its power to curry favor with James Franco.’ Ignoring the claims of racism and favouritism, the university responded to the suit: ‘It is regrettable and disappointing to see a faculty member, former or otherwise, discuss any student’s grade for the purpose of his or her personal publicity.’

In 2009, Franco was photographed sleeping through a class at Colombia University. In September 2010, Franco blamed Santana for his failing NYU grade: ‘I did the work, I did well in everything else. But the acting teacher probably felt uncomfortable with a working well known actor in his class. It was not the norm.’

Santana and his lawyer, Matt Blit, spoke about the firing on TMZ Live today.
