Mischa Barton’s publicist has finally offered limited comment on the actress being taken into hospital on a 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold, on Wednesday (July 15).
Frankly, the rep may as well have been in a stupor, along with the star, for all the use they have been over the last few days. They only commented to confirm facts already on public record. “Ms. Barton was safely transferred to medical treatment for which she remains hospitalized, as per the recommendation of her doctor,” the actress’ publicist told TVGuide.com on Friday. (Slow claps for the publicist.)
Before you start salivating, you should know that was pretty much all the confirmation we got that Barton was in hospital at all. Barton’s rep would not comment on a report by Access Hollywood that she had been placed under a 72-hour involuntary psychiatric hold. The rep told Los Angeles Times that her participation in the show “will ultimately be contingent upon her progress and doctor’s orders.”
The actress is scheduled to report for work on the new CW series The Beautiful Life: TBL on Wednesday, July 22. The production has reportedly been pushed back by a week, from July 22 to July 31. Sources close to the show say the reason for the delay is nothing to do with Barton’s breakdown. Simply, some of the sets for the show were not completed on time. A spokesperson for the CW denies this, telling TVGuide.com that the production start date remains unchanged, and the show is slated to premiere as planned on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
