Michael Jackson died today, in the second piece of tragic news that has shocked those in the media (earlier today it was announced that Farrah Fawcett passed away also.) This news is so sad, so out of left field and is setting Twitter and people’s social networks on fire as the news spreads.
I never even saw this coming. There had been rumours of ill-health for some time, and as such it had become nearly impossible to separate fact from fiction. Here is what we know of the last few hours; the singer was rushed to the hospital in Los Angeles after suffering a cardiac arrest, reports TMZ. A 911 call came in at 12:21PM at his Holmby Hills home in L.A. The 50-year-old was picked up at his home and paramedics administered CPR in the ambulance.
An updated post on the site says that the singer never recovered from the cardiac arrest. The reports seems a little wobbly to me, as they are from sources inside the hospital. Not official reports from family. I will say this. If I believe initial reports from anybody it’s them. You can hide in a hole on the other side of the world and TMZ can find you. There is little information they are not willing to pay for.
When paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back. A source tells us Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived. Once at the hospital, the staff tried to resuscitate him but he was completely unresponsive.We’re told one of the staff members at Jackson’s home called 911. La Toya ran in the hospital sobbing after Jackson was pronounced dead. (from TMZ)
Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince “Blanket” Michael Jackson II.
