Jessica Alba covers the June 2012 issue of Marie Claire for which she gives an interview about spending the first half of her career in a bikini. The 31-year-old says she spent a lot of her career being ‘objectified’ which made her ‘uncomfortable.’ Which is ‘bulls**t,’ because no one forced her to take those roles and she had on her big girl panties, at 19, in Dark Angel, so she knew the score. It was rumoured that Kim Kardashian had been snubbed as gauche by Anna Wintour for the Met Gala and the cover of American Vogue. Prompting her pimps at E! to do some contrived damage control, by way of a rebuttal, that Kardashian had a photo shoot for a ‘European fashion magazine’ the day of the gala so she couldn’t attend ‘if she wanted to.’ Which was sort of true, except E! lied about the dates, because it’s a week later and these are the first photos we’re seeing. Kardashian tweeted this photo with the caption: ’Amazing shoot today for Vogue Italia! Thank you @Rushka_Bergman & @akafrancesco for your creative genius!!!’ (you can see more photos here). Except, notes Jezebel.com, Kardashian doesn’t know what magazine she’s shooting for because Vogue Italia editor Franca Sozzani clarified on Twitter the shoot is really for L’uomo Vogue.
Jessica Simpson will be using her abandoned uterus as the workshop for the maternity line she announced this morning, Jessica Simpson Maternity. Which I take to mean she’s going to start stealing the designs for maternity clothing and paying peasants to sew her name inside, rather than stealing regular designs and doing the same thing. The clothing has a vintage feel, according to People.com, with a double-digit price point befitting such knockoffs. Simpson says, in a press release today, she’s excited to shill preggo clothes that make other women’s bumps look as big as hers did: ‘[It's] breezy, every day pieces aimed at the modern mom-to-be who wants to maintain her fashion edge. You want to wear clothes that are flattering to your bump. You want to show your bump off.’
Kristen Stewart covers American Elle June 2012 (in addition to her Elle UK cover the same month with a completely different interview and photo shoot). This is another piece of promotion for Snow White & The Huntsman which will drown out the death rattle of Mirror Mirror unless the former is literally 127 minutes of Stewart grinding her teeth and biting her lip while exhaling. Original Recipe Spider-Man (thanks, Sue Sylvester) and The Amazing Spider-Man interview each other for VMAN Magazine as the reboot’s promotional trail heats up. This is adorable, the ‘old’ Spider-Man (from 2002!) Tobey Maguire was drafted by the magazine to shoot the fanboy s**t about the new movie with Andrew Garfield. Making it clear he’s not butthurt, Maguire gushed: ‘I was certainly curious as to who was going to play Peter Parker. When I heard it was you, I was literally like, ‘[Bleeping] perfect!’ I just want it to be great, and I thought, ‘What a great actor Andrew is. I’m glad that’s what’s happening here.” Maguire continued about how the earlier movies changed his life, ‘So much shifted in my life the weekend the movie came out.’ But Garfield is prepared: ‘I just feel such a great responsibility to the story and to the fans, because I know in my heart how much this character means to people, because it means that much to me. I feel a great wave of reassurance after hearing everything you’ve said.’ Asked about the casting, Garfield knew a bunch of the guys auditioning, awkward, he says: ‘I’m friends with a few of the guys who were up for it. We compared notes and war stories, and we kind of got past the ridiculousness of it all… Knowing that when you take off that bodysuit someone else is going to be stepping into your sweat immediately after. It’s a weird kind of cattle call.’
E! Online posted the world’s most transparent rebuttal, with a story claiming Kim Kardashian was not snubbed by Anna Wintour and the MET Costume Institute Gala; instead, Kardashian had a prior work commitment on the West coast. The same E! who’re Scrooge McDucking in a vault of Kardashian-tainted money has a fiduciary interest not to allow this kind of story to spread. Earlier in the week, RadarOnline.com claimed Kardashian would never attend the MET Gala, nor cover American Vogue, because Wintour ‘hated’ the reality star. However, claims, E!, the prior report was fabrication because going to the gym (the only thing I have proof of Kardashian doing that day) was more important than the biggest fame/ fashion whore gangbang outside of the Academy Awards. An E! source says Kardashian had a commitment in Los Angeles for an all-day photo shoot with a European fashion magazine: ‘She couldn’t have gone even if she wanted to.
