You make some very valid points, Rain. I tried to write this bearing US laws about freedom of speech in mind. Hence me saying that she is probably legally correct. However, as you say, that can be a terrifying mask to cover a lot of things that are actually hateful. People can get away with some awful things, so long as it is their “right” to do so. So long as your opinion is in line with that of the majority, it seems you’re covered. The real issue is when your free speech goes against the grain. It’s a nasty Catch 22. But that seems to be the case here.

You know, in a more idyllic, egalitarian society she would have been sued for hate speech.

Unfortunately we still don’t make the obvious connection between using a national platform to espouse what amounts to hatred in the guise of freedom of speech and religious conviction.

Now, if I were to join a church that advocated the the rape of little girls and got on television saying so I’d be in on HELL of a legal sh*t hole.

I’ll have to try to watch the full thing online. CNN are pretty good for releasing clips in a timely manner. I hate what Chris did to Rihanna, but I hate heavy-handed and misleading editing even more. We shall see…

Matter of fact, she should consult with God on the whole issue b/c truth be told, she was ousted for a reason. They didn’t just kick her out b/c of religious beliefs but the platform she used to express said belief and uh, naked pics? Did she forget about those? She violated rules (not sure which one REALLY got her kicked out b/c I dont care lol). She needs to get over it…build a nice bridge and walk over that bish! POW!!
