I don’t usually report on things like this. But I make a point to post whenever I read a report and it makes me do this. Last Thursday it was reported that the husband of the late Brittany Murphy, Simon Monjack, appeared on The Today Show where he addressed allegations that his wife died of a drugs overdose. He went on to point the blame at Hollywood for the stress of not casting her in Happy Feet 2, as though it had anything to do with existing health issues. This made more than a few people scratch their heads. Now he is threatening to sue.
Several outlets report Monjack is to file a wrongful death lawsuit against Warner Brothers. His reasoning is so convoluted it’s impossible to know how this’ll go in court, but he says it’s their fault his wife passed away; he specifies their cancellation of her contract for a sequel to Happy Feet triggered a heart attack.
“She was devastated, they killed her.” Monjack [told Daily Beast] in the wake of the Warner Brothers decision, just two weeks before she died. A month before the Happy Feet news, Murphy had been dropped from The Caller, amid reports that Monjack (on the set in Puerto Rico) had been intoxicated and frequently difficult. Monjack denies the rumors. Sharon Murphy, the late actress’ mother, stands by Monjack’s assessment that career stress caused Murphy’s early death. The Los Angels Coroner’s Office has yet to release a cause of death for the 32-year-old star.
The latest today is producers of The Caller, and Warner Brothers, have responded to the claims. Both say Monjack is insane in the membrane.
The producers of The Caller tell TMZ: “The decision for Brittany to leave the film was mutual and amicable, and was in fact related to a serious illness in Brittany’s family. Any rumors to the contrary are false, and in the circumstances, particularly hurtful.” Warner Brothers [also made a] statement: “Any claim that Warner Bros. Pictures was somehow responsible for Brittany Murphy’s tragic death is demonstrably false, reprehensible, and defamatory. Despite press reports to the contrary, Warner Bros. Pictures and Ms. Murphy never entered into any deal for “Happy Feet 2,” and thus, there was not a contract to cancel.”

dude, WTF?!? is he seriously going to sue a studio saying that becuse trhey didn’t cast her, they killed her? what is he smoking and where can i get some? that’s some damn powerful stuff!!! lol
Uh, did not doing Happy Feet 2 make her head unhappy too?
In other words, did that alone make her start crackin’ it?
My thoughts exactly – I’m not buying it but he did just lose his wife, so I’m going to leave it at that.
