It had been reported that The Brittany Murphy Foundation had dragged the name of the late actress through the mud even further, as it was a charity in name alone. However, now the foundation has pledged to give its donations back.
They were confronted by TMZ, less than 48-hours ago, about why they solicited donations without the proper legal charity status. Their website shut down for maintenance. Now the site re-opened, and has posted an update about being a private foundation and them hoping to achieve non-profit status down the road. This is a load of horse balls, but let’s put that to one side for the moment.
The site now says it will return all the donations “until we have all our paperwork solidified”. According to TMZ, the site is no longer taking donations and now holds itself as a private foundation which awaits 501(c)3 non-profit status.
