The causes of death of Brittany Murphy and Casey Johnson were announced at pretty much the exact same time. That said I’m going to give a brief commentary on the tragedies before I retreat to the comfort of my blanket and curl up into the foetal position, away from prying eyes. Brittany Murphy did not die from the list of illegal narcotics of which she had been accused of taking. According to TMZ her death was a preventable one, which was the result of several factors. She is thought to have died from pneumonia and severe anemia, which could have been treated had she been taken to the hospital in time. The 5foot 3inch actress weighed 115 lbs. when she was found dead Dec. 20 at age 32.
As for the multiple drugs found in her system, we’re told they were both prescription, including medicine for cramps, and over-the-counter medications, including cough syrup. Our sources say the drugs “pushed her over the line” but the underlying problems were the pneumonia and anemia. In other words, Brittany was really sick, didn’t get treatment and by self-medicating it pushed her over the line. [TMZ]
Then there was Casey Johnson, who died before having the chance to run screaming from Tila Tequila. The Johnson & Johnson heiress died at age 30, from neglect, as she was not taking proper care of herself and her health.
The L.A. County Coroner says the cause of death was “Diabetic Ketoacidosis” and the manner of death was “natural.” But our sources say the Coroner’s findings clearly show Johnson — who died at 30 — was not taking her insulin shots, was not exercising, did not follow her strict diet and was not taking other medicines she needed. [TMZ]
There you have it, hopefully this’ll stop the rumour-spreading about both women.

If I am reading this correctly Brittany basically died because of neglect, whether self or otherwise, which is so damn sad coz in this day and age no one is suppose to die of either one of those illnesses. Both can be treated extremely effectively and with absolutely no side effects. Why she got over the counter medication from some person that didn’t know what the hell he was treating her for is just above me. surely it was not a matter of battling financially that she didnt see a qualified doctor. Makes one wonder where those ppl were that cared about her then… There is just no way in hell I would allow my wife, or kids for that matter, to take over the counter medication, if they suffers from any one of those illnesses.
In Casey’s case it is evidently a case of neglect, if she neglected to take her shots, and follow her diet, she had a death wish. Either that or no one ever explained to her the severe and/or fatal side effects of not taking Diabetics seriously…
Both seem to be tragically sad cases of not treating potentially fatal illnesses properly.
Thanks for sharing that with us, really appreciate it.
Colin.
You read correctly on both counts – with the proper support system/ care, both women would easily still be alive today. Brittany was seeing someone/ getting her meds in a way where serious illness was always going to be the best-case-scenario. Also, I agree that Casey skipping her meds was basically a death wish.
