The Brittany Murphy 911 Call from her Mother

I have to be honest and say I’m not sure how I feel about this. But it may provide a little insight into what happened on the day Brittany Murphy passed away.

TMZ released audio for the 911 call Murphy’s mother made. The audio of the call shows her mother clearly in pieces at finding her daughter in her bathroom. You’ll need a box of tissues and this isn’t something everyone should listen to. Think before clicking, but the MP3 file for the audio can be found at this link.

  1. Hold your loved ones close, every day. Life does really random left turns that we are so unable to comprehend, we think, “it won’t happen to me”.

It very well could. And at some point, it will.

So be kind, let the little stuff go, ’cause the big boy is waiting…….

    1. I’m glad you’re the first to comment, I worried people would be “judge-y” for me posting this. It made me think – anything that moves me I always consider for posting here. And yes, after damn near knocking myself unconscious during a nasty fall on the ice today, I know all it takes is one accident for things to change.

  2. Oh honey,
Are you okay? Make sure you get checked out – head bumps have a nasty way of becoming bigger issues than originally felt.

Somewhere, archived in Los Angeles, there is a 911 call about me – I had a heart attack when I was thirty years old. The woman on the line was telling my boyfriend to do the very same thing, he was panicking but trying to follow directions.

I was told that when the paramedics came, they shocked my heart 6 or 7 times, then one of them said “bag and tag her”.

A breath made it through right then, somehow, then there was a second heart attack in the ambulance. I was in a coma for over a week, and to this day, there is a two-week “dead-zone” in my brain where everything is blank.

And all of this was from an allergic reaction to a medication a doctor from UCLA had prescribed. Nothing illegal, unlawful, nefarious, or in-the-closet.

Just a mistake a doctor made.

Thank god I was not famous.

I am glad you posted the 911 call, as it is what happens to everyone in an emergency, and all the stardust just collapses when one hears another person’s fear, pain, anguish.

Death really levels the playing field, doesn’t it?

I am glad you post what is in your heart, and are honest about it. Yours is the only web site I have read who is not sensationalizing this tragic event.

    1. I think I’m okay… glad I fell on the back of my head and not my face, with that force I would have broken my nose/ knocked out half me teeth, for sure (not kidding).

Sorry to hear about that – yeah – your attacks would have been front page news, for sure. It all becomes a free-for-all. Sensationalising things with stupid all caps headlines and too many exclamation marks is not my thing e.g. “BREAKING NEWS!!! Brittany Murphy 911 Call – It’s Heart Wrenching!! (AUDIO)” (that’s a real headline, by the way).

I think there is something quite wrong with only blogging for page views – there needs to be some heart in what you do. As you say, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with trying to tastefully share something that actually moves you.

  3. I have seen a lot of deaths, natural and unnatural, in my life, (was a detective for almost 23 years) but this brought a tear to my eye, and no, glad you posted this. Being a parent I can imagine what that poor mother must have gone through at that time. It must be the worst thing to go through in life, seeing one of your kids die before you do. I know it sounds unbelievable, but I am sure every parent worth his or her salt will agree, I will die anytime before I have to experience any one of my kids die before me.

I must say, I am really and truly impressed with the assistance she got from the guy at your 911 service. one will never get that kind of assistance in our country. Here the person would more than likely have put the phone down in your ear.

Thanks for posting, I didn’t finish listening, but I heard enough to make me realize, yet again, that one should appreciate your loved ones.

How is your head this morning? I hope well.

    Colin.

    1. Thanks to you too, Colin, for not being upset about the posting. I consider things like this carefully and don’t take the decision lightly. The call does help give the whole thing some context – and as you found even listening part way through can open your eyes to certain things. That was my only aim.

Also, thanks for asking… my neck is pretty messed up. But I think I’ll be okay. I hope it goes away in the next few days.

  4. It may get worse for a day or two and then it should get better.

If not it is better to get professional help, you should not take chances with head or neck injuries.

    Hope you are better soon.

    1. Good advice, thanks for caring. xo

  5. Mystery Man says:

WTF?!? do those people at TMZ have no souls or compassion. What about respect for the family. Wait…their paparazzi. All they do is ruin lives*cough* Tiger Woods*cough*

Seriously, though, there is no reason anyone would want to hear this. I haven’t heard of any kkind of public outcry for Brittany Murphy’s 911 tapes, have you?

    1. With all due respect, dear MM, that comment isn’t very helpful. I have a warning above, and people can choose to listen for insight/ a little more context to the case. If you don’t want to listen, don’t.
