I get that the show is much improved now it’s more than protracted silences and people eating breakfast together. But, seriously, get your s**t together, people. According to Gawker.com who saved this screencap from a local P.D.’s Facebook page before it was deleted, fans of the show called 911 to complain when their cable went out right ahead of when the episode was supposed to air on AMC. When their local Cablevision service appeared to go down in Connecticut, residents bombarded the Fairfield Police Department with calls. This pissed the police off enough to threaten to arrest anyone who called the emergency number for a non-emergency… like having to wait an hour or watch it on Netflix instead. Cablevision released a statement saying it had a ‘commercial power outage in its Norwalk facility’ and service was restored in time for the repeat. The police published and later deleted this: ‘NOTICE: We are receiving numerous 911 calls regarding the Cablevision outage. This is neither an emergency or a police related concern. Please direct your inquiries to Cablevision. 911 should only be called for Life Threatening Emergencies ONLY. Incidents that are not of an emergency nature may be reported to the Fairfield Police Department at (203) 254-4800. Misuse of the 911 system may result in an arrest.’ Here’s a screencap.
