As a follow up to the explosive claims of Mackenzie Phillips, and her step-mother calling her a liar over claims of sleeping with her own father, further family members have surfaced to talk about the Mackenzie and John Phillips rape/ incest claims.
Namely two half-sisters of Mackenzie Phillips, actress Bijou Phillips, who truth-be-told I only know exists because she spent a lot of the late 90s hanging around with Paris Hilton, and a second half-sister Chynna Phillips. In statements that will shock Mackenzie’s stepmother Michelle Phillips, both of the half-sisters say that Mackenzie is telling the truth.
Mackenzie’s half-sister, Chynna Phillips, appeared live with Winfrey and explained that her mother, Michelle, is angry. “It’s not something that my mom wants plastered all over the papers,” she said. Chynna, 41, admitted that she, too, shared some of that sentiment. “Am I exceedingly joyful that my family secret that I told maybe my therapist, my husband and my very best friend in the whole word [is now public]? No.”
Nevertheless, [Chynna] said, she has known about the situation for 12 years and, while she wasn’t certain that her sister could be entirely accurate about the details, believed that the two were sexually involved for a decade. “I was completely stunned,” she said when Mackenzie shared the secret. “I walked around in a comatose state for about 10 days.” (via People)
Bijou tells The Insider the following about her older sister’s claims. “When I was 13, Mackenzie told me that she had a consensual sexual relationship with our father. This news was confusing and scary, as I lived alone with my father since I was 3, I didn’t know what to believe and it didn’t help that shortly there after Mackenzie told me it didn’t happen.
Mackenzie’s history with our father is hers, but also clouded with 30 years of drug abuse. I hope she can come to terms with this and find peace. The life I had with my father was very different. He was Mr. mom, encouraging and loving. The man that raised me would never be capable of doing such things, and if he was, it is heartbreaking to me to think that my family would leave me alone with him. I understand Mackenzie’s need to come clean with a history she feels will help others, but its devastating to have the world watch as we try and mend broken fences, especially when the man in question isn’t here to defend himself.” (via The Insider)
Another reason Michelle Phillips is so irritating with her dumping all over Mackenzie, citing her drug use as the reason for her “lying”, ahem – her own daughter Chynna fully admits the she, too, was sucking up and down every kind of drug she could get her hands on, even doing drugs in front of her kids. Chynna sobered up some time ago, but she is not the squeaky clean perfect daughter Michelle makes her out to be, all the while slamming Mackenzie.
This is where Michelle Phillips ‘holier-than-thou’ attitude is so insanely hypocritical.
Hopefully, all of the children of these screwed up parents will come out of this mess stronger. So far, it seems as if they are. I hope they keep it up, and ignore all of the crap being said by the ex-wives.

It does seem that as her own children support the allegations, there is truth to the story. She does seem to be in rather deep denial – but then who am I to judge… I bloody well would be too!
You make a good point – If I were in the position of hearing that an ex of mine had done this to his own daughter, I am afraid I would get into the shower and scrub my skin until I bled to death.
I guess I am just irritated with Michelle because it seems that she is being especially strident in her accusations towards Mackenzie, which perpetuates another form of abuse.
I am most likely transferring much of my own anger at personal issues being scoffed at by family members onto Michelle Phillips and her public statements – probably time to plod back to the therapist’s couch, lol. For lord sake, a bunch of people I do not even know getting me this riled up! Pathetic!
It’s just gross and stupid all over. I believe Mac, but she’s pretty disgusting to be, like, proud of it and humiliating her siblings for a quick a buck. Ol’ moms should just back down and let the fallout pass. No point in feeding Mac’s fire even more.
I don’t know – - Mackenzie does not come off as particularly “proud” of the whole episode, she seems proud of being sober for over a year, but to be honest, I did not watch any of the “Oprah” tapes, just the one interview with Meredith Vieira on NBC.
So, not being fully informed of everything Mackenzie has said publicly, I cannot defend one way or another. Did she warn her siblings that she was coming out with the secret? One would hope so…..
I just hope that it ultimately becomes a freeing thing for everyone – secrets like that kill everyone, in some form, from the inside, slowly.
It is good comparison therapy for anyone out there bitching about their own parents, though, don’t you think?
