Anne Hathaway has been cast as Catwoman in Chris Nolan’s 2012 Batman movie, Dark Knight Rises. The news that the 28-year-old has been cast as Selina Kyle has been confirmed by the studio. Hathaway won the role over competing actresses Natalie Portman, Keira Knightley, Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts and Blake Lively. The part has previously been played by Michelle Pfeiffer in 1992′s Batman Returns and Halle Berry in 2004′s Catwoman. The latter only being memorable for Berry’s leather suit with the ass cheeks cut out. The former was quite cartoony, but at least it was watchable. ‘I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story,’ Nolan said in an official statement released by Warner Bros. Christian Bale long confirmed he would play Batman, a third and final time. British actor Tom Hardy is set to play ‘the man who broke the Bat’, Bane. Hathaway will present February’s 83rd Academy Awards with 127 Hours actor James Franco.
