Ex-wife of David Bowie, Angie Bowie, regrets handing over her son and accepting a divorce settlement once her marriage broke down. Angie married David in 1970, and they had a son a year later in 1971, Duncan Zowie Haywood Jones. 10 years after getting married they divorced in 1980. For reasons I can only attribute to being dazed and confused by all the bright colours and flower patterns, Angie gave up custody of her son and accepted $750,000 (around £500,000) in a settlement. Now 61-years-old, Angie says she regrets the deal.
“The last time I heard from him was four or five years ago by email.” Angie admits watching Jones’ debut movie Moon, which won him the Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer at last month’s British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards, “broke” her heart. She adds, “I saw the movie and it was marvellous. I love it. It’s even more exceptional when you consider that it’s his first major offering. For me it struck this chord. I thought, ‘I should never have left him,’ but because David bad-mouthed me for years there was no way that I could have any relationship with Zowie. It broke my heart. I think it’s lovely that a woman who essentially sold her child when he was nine, blames the father who raised him for the lack of connection or affection. The last time she heard from her son was an email four or five years ago? It sounds like she didn’t even bother with the kid – and is something wrong with her fingers, does she not have a phone? Of course she does. She has no relationship with her child because she abandoned him to the parent who cared for, educated and reared a man who is now becoming successful and Angie can’t take any credit for that. I think it’s pretty clear the right parent raised Duncan.
She’s another one of those fame fuckers who lived a life of wealth and fame that someone else earned. After a few years of using the ex wife of Bowie currency she ended up in obscurity. And is probably broke and now lonely. Life is truly about choices.
