Kelly on SNL McCain Videos: John McCain On Saturday Night Live 1 November

McCain was very funny on SNL – he was also very funny, as was Obama, on Oct 16th, at the ALfred E. Smith roast – I think both he and Palin are being “good sports”, however, I do not want either of them in office – no, no, no and NO!

Not with the campaign they have been running.

And I agree with Chris, there is something kind of sad about McCain resorting to self-mocking this close to the end of the run – not to be a “Debbie Downer”, but this country is in big Effing trouble, and this election is not a popularity contest on who can be a sport and act like a celebrity and go on late night comedy shows – let’s save that business for AFTER the election, okay?

However, in my ever present conspiracy theory mind, I found McCain’s “Reverse Maverick” paragraph as perhaps a subtle explanation of why he picked Palin?

John McCain appeared on yesterday’s (1 November – SNL 11/1/08) brand new episode of Saturday Night Live. Click below now to watch the two full HQ official videos [Website – Amy Grindhouse].

In the first clip, as shown below, McCain be seen in the opening sketch, alongside Palin’s doppelganger Tina Fey. The pair did a great sketch that out LOL’d Palin’s effort from last week. They poo-pooed Barack Obama spending campaign money on a 30-minute advert across 3 major networks and instead ’saved’ money by advertising on QVC. They LOL’d that they scored the airtime by agreeing to ’sell’ stuff on the shopping channel (with the help of Cindy McCain)!

In the second video, also shown below, McCain can be seen in his guest appearance on the Weekend Update.

I THINK MCCAIN SPANKED IT. His is the LOLiest of all the SNL videos so far. Go MCCAIN!

Caribou Barbie Pulls In The Viewers

Seems Caribou Barbie & Friends ™ are ratings weiners (oops… should that be ‘winners’?) [Website – Amy Grindhouse].

Any poop, the two segments in which the Republican Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin appeared were both a ratings smash, at the weekend…

And by ‘were both a ratings smash at the weekend’, I mean, they ‘were both watched by more than just me, my mum and Chester Cheetah at the weekend’.

According to Just Jared:

Sarah Palin guest spot on this weekend’s Saturday Night Live helped the sketch show earn its best ratings in 14 years.

More than 14 million viewers tuned in to see Palin joke about being called “Caribou Barbie” in the show’s opener and raise the roof as Amy Poehler performed a rap about her campaign. W star Josh Brolin hosted the show and Mark Wahlberg also made an appearance on the show.

The episode is the highest-rated SNL since March 12, 1994, when Olympic skater Nancy Kerrigan was the host and the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin the musical guest.

Sarah Palin appeared on yesterday’s (18 October – SNL 10/18/08) brand new episode of Saturday Night Live. Click below now to watch the two full HQ official videos [Website – Amy Grindhouse].

In the first clip, as shown below, Palin can be seen in the opening sketch, which also featured guest appearances from Mark Wahlberg and Alec Baldwin. And, of course Tina Tey also made an appearance with her spoof impression of Republican vice presidential candidate, Palin, (for the fourth time). The Alaska Governor plays herself in the opening segment and stood with Executive Producer, Lorne Michaels, as the two watched Fey play Palin during a mock news conference.

The second video, also shown below, Palin can be seen in her guest appearance on the Weekend Update alongside Amy Poehler.

All I can say after watching these spoofs, is thank f*ck they are funnier than the last two dreary attempts SNL made at this. Both videos are corkers. You’ll LOL!

Palin To Film SNL Fey Parody

Would the real Sarah Palin please stand up and identify herself, before my head explodes from all the doppelgangery-goodness [Website – Amy Grindhouse].

According to reports, Sarah Palin wants to join the EPIC-army-of-funny, that is SNLOL.

The controversial politician is said to be keen to appear on the Saturday night entertainment show, in order to spoof bane of her life, Tina Fey. For reasons unknown, the never intentionally funny Palin and her people, are hella-hyped about the public-humiliation-y implications, of this horrible, YouTube ready, accident-waiting-to-happen.

Palin is allegedly trying to fit Saturday Night Live around her work schedule. Which, so far as anyone can tell, consists of rescheduling her mani-pedi and then just yelling ‘F*CK IT!’ and erasing everything off of her Crackberry…

According to the Sun Times:

[The idea is] some sort of Palin tweak of Fey’s American Express commercials is in the works.

While next weekend’s ”Saturday Night Live” will be a rerun, it is possible Palin could appear [as early as] Thursday on the first of NBC’s ”Weekend Update” specials in prime time.

Otherwise, the next orginal “SNL” show will be broadcast Oct. 18, a little more than two weeks before the election.

This EPIC-cyclone of twinsy-goodness is enough to give someone a headache. Presuming the audience’s heads don’t fall off, from all the ‘which is the real Sarah Palin?’ and ‘which is the hot bitch in the Palin wig?’ mess, this could be another ratings smash.

Can you handle all the hotness?

Generally speaking golfers are well of white males who buy sports cars. Usually the type of guy that needs a sports car is well, smaller than your average guy. I would not be surprised if on the inside there are male enhancement ads.

I guess Cruise had a German accent worse than the Irish one he tried to do in Far And Away.

I hate it when they do that shit. This movie will blow chunks and I am not talking about the dog from the old joke.

Bryan Singer lost it for me with Superman Returns. He had the opportunity to make the Superman flick we had all been begging for and instead threw in a love story that did not need to be there and took the cheap twist making the kid Superman’s son. Now he working with Hollywood outcast Tom Cruise. Tells me he is on his way down and in a big way.

Something about that Gegorge Bush. Everytime he’s in charge banks seem to go down the toilet. Anyone remember the Savings & Loan debacle? We covered it in high school at the time. I haven’t forgotten.

That guy just loves emptying out banks and forking over the money to his friends.

SNL Palin Couric Interview 27 September: Video

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler opened the 27 September episode of Saturday Night Live with a Sarah Palin and Katie Couric interview spoof. Click above to watch the full HQ video [Website – Amy Grindhouse].

This is the second Palin parody done by Fey and Poehler, on SNL, in as many weeks.

The first video took a satirical look at the relationship between Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton. This new video features a spoof on the sit down interview of Governor Sarah Palin and CBS network news anchor Katie Couric.

Although it has its merits, I find this new skit far less funny than the first.

I found myself waiting for the clip to get funny. I clicked play and then I sat waiting until the bloody end credits rolled. I actually finished watching this clip about 5 minutes ago and, you know, I am still waiting for them to tell an actual LOL.

As well as feeling like I missed the joke, I also feel far less inclined to pee myself with laughter and/ or LOL so loud that my windows vibrate.

And, after all, that is what SNL, or SNLOL ™ as I call them, is for. If I’m not so excited I could just poop*, or so excited I almost spit my Ribena all over my PC screen, SNLOL has FAILed.
