Russell Brand gave the interview below to Defamer. I feel it is my duty to share this with you, as it is a LOL of epic and earth-shaking proportions [Website – Amy Grindhouse].

I read this while at work and it was breathtakingly funny. It even made me laugh out loud, while I was totally s’posed to be working.

Brand, you are my new hero! This interview is perfection. I hereby declare this the ‘EPIC LOL of 2008′.

In brief, the premise of the interview was to quiz Brand on his knowledge of American culture, prior to his appearance on the MTV VMA’s.

DEFAMER: Right now, we’re all wondering what was up with this Christian Bale assault case, and maybe you can explain it to me. Apparently in the UK, you can go to jail for verbal assault? What’s up with that?RUSSELL: In England, we have such good manners that if someone says something impolite, the police will get involved. Christian Bale, I believe whilst in a restaurant, rolled his eyes at the lighting. That is an offense punishable by five years in prison in the United Kingdom. I admire Christian Bale and I think he’s one of the greatest living actors on the planet currently, but we cannot shirk when it comes to good manners. If it’s true that he also dropped a napkin on his way to the lavatory, then I think that he should possibly receive the death penalty.

DEFAMER: Lastly, I want to know your thoughts on the most important issue of our time…

RUSSELL: Yes.

DEFAMER: …Brad and Angelina just had the twins.

RUSSELL: Thank God. The thing is that they’re both so stupidly beautiful and good-looking and attractive that their children are born looking gorgeous! It’s unsettling. That first one they had, she had sort of a Marilyn Monroe mouth. I don’t think they should breed, those two people. I think their adoption policy is probably better because when their genes come together, it creates a storm of attractiveness so potent that it could one day bring down the planet. [...] No one needs that on a baby! No one needs a baby with eight-inch-long eyelashes.

Britney Spears & Russell Brand VMAs Skit: Videos

I watched these two piece of shit promos and was left thinking… ‘Was that it?’ [Website – Amy Grindhouse].

Click to play the video promos,’Pinch Me’ & ‘Name’. MTV VMA 2008 host Russell Brand stars alongside Britney Spears.

The promos did-what-they-said-on-the-tin.

The clip shows Brand and Spears, sitting on a chez-lounge of some description in some warehouse and the pair engage in banal conversation for 30-seconds at a time (even in those 30 seconds, Spears seems to forget Brand’s surname).

For shits sake, who comes up with this crap? I will give props where they are due. Brand looks suitably quaffed (be-afro’d and mustachioed) and Spears look sober… but really, is that supposed to compel nay-sayers into watching? Oh, and let’s not even go there with the flipin’ elephant in the room… Thoughts?

Russell Brand Talks About VMA No Swearing Rule

British comic Russell Brand gave the following sound bite about hosting the MTV VMA Awards next month [Website – Amy Grindhouse].

“I’ve been warned when I’m presenting there are two things I am never allowed to say. One – c*nt. And two – Scientology. There is one sentence that could join both of those words but I’m going to try and not say it. I have a problem when people tell me not to do something. When I was going to meet the Queen the protocol people told me how to bow, not to curtsy, not to speak until I was spoken to. But all I could think of was, ‘Grab her t*t’!”

I also have a sound bite that I would like to add as a ‘Stupid Quote of The Day’:

“I’ve been warned not to get too ridiculous, live-blogging all the stupid things that happen at the VMA’s. With colourful (but sadly not especially funny) comic Russell Brand at the helm, the show will blow people’s socks off. I can smell the controversy a mile away. As a Brit, you get to say and do things over here that would never fly on American TV. Ooooh, I can see the fur flying already, as Brand ruffles the feathers of my American cousins on live T.V. with poo jokes and skits about Scientology.“

Britney Spears Returns To MTV Awards

Britney Spears is to feature in the upcoming 2008 MTV Awards [Website – Amy Grindhouse].

Despite her disastrous appearance at last year’s show (see below) and cries that she had been exploited in exchange for better ratings, Spears gave the network another chance.

Spears shot a special ad-libbed commercial, along with host Russell Brand. According to E! Online:

She shot the spot on Tuesday at the Paramount lot in Hollywood (the site of this year’s show) with first-time host, British bad-boy comedian and Forgetting Sarah Marshall star Russell Brand.

“It was mostly ad-libbed, with Russell asking her for advice about hosting the show,” a source tells me. “There’s also a 9,000-pound elephant in it, as in ‘the elephant in the room.’ “
